The terms.

These terms are between you and AlchemistOne Inc. (“we”), a company in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. They apply when you use any of our websites, leave your email with us, apply to The Program, take part in a pilot or in The Program itself, use the member platform at platform.alchemistone.io, or use the AlchemistOne app on iOS or Android. By doing any of those things you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Our privacy policy, which explains what we collect and how we protect it, is part of this agreement. Where The Program and the app work differently, these terms say so; everything else applies to both.

If you were using the app under our earlier Terms of Use, these terms replace them thirty days after the date at the top of this page, or sooner if you accept them in the app.

AlchemistOne makes two things. The AlchemistOne app is a mindfulness and habit-change app: meditations, journaling, reflections and tracking, for you to use on your own. The Program is a ninety-day program for people who want to stop gambling, built around three live video rooms a week led by facilitators who are in recovery themselves, with practice to do between the rooms and small real-world tasks we call side quests, supported by the member platform. After the ninety days, an optional monthly membership offers continued access to alumni rooms.

We are non-clinical. Facilitators are people who have stopped gambling and who help others do the same. They are not clinicians, and nobody at AlchemistOne diagnoses or treats anything. Neither the app nor The Program is therapy, counselling, medical care, or legal or financial advice, and neither is a substitute for any of them. Many members see a therapist at the same time, and we encourage that.

If you are in immediate danger, or thinking about harming yourself, contact emergency services or a crisis line now. In Canada and the United States call or text 988. In the United Kingdom call Samaritans on 116 123. In Australia call Lifeline on 13 11 14. We are not an emergency service and cannot respond as one.

We cannot promise an outcome. People who show up and do the work tend to change their relationship with what they came to change, and we will do everything we know how to do to help, but recovery is yours, not ours to guarantee.

You must be at least eighteen to use the app or to join The Program. If we learn that someone younger has an account, we will close it.

Your account is yours alone. Give us accurate information when you create it, keep your sign-in details safe, do not share them, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used them. You are responsible for what happens under your account until you do. We may send you a one-time code by email to sign in.

To use our services you need a compatible device and an internet connection, which you arrange and pay for yourself. We may release updates that you need to install for the app or the platform to keep working.

Joining. Joining starts with an application and a short intake call, and we decide who we accept. We will be honest if we think we are not the right place for you, for example if a substance problem needs medical care first, and we will try to point you somewhere better. You agree that what you tell us in your application is true; we rely on it to keep the rooms safe for everyone in them.

The pilot and the email list. Before the full program opens, we run small pilots by invitation. Leaving your email tells us you are interested; it does not commit you to anything and does not guarantee a seat. If we offer you one, we will tell you the dates, the format and any cost before you decide, and these terms apply to a pilot as they do to The Program.

Fees, payment and refunds. The Program has one fee for the ninety days, shown on our site in your currency and paid once before you start. Payment is taken by Stripe; we never see your card details. Prices include tax where the law requires it. If you withdraw before your first live room, we refund the fee in full. After your first room the fee is not refundable, because your seat in a small room has been held for you and the rooms are planned around the people in them. We may make exceptions where circumstances warrant, and nothing here limits a refund the law entitles you to. If we cancel a program or a room you have paid for and cannot offer an alternative, we refund the part you have not received. The alumni membership, if you take it, is billed monthly; you can cancel it at any time from the platform, with access continuing to the end of the month you have paid for.

Confidentiality. What is said in a room stays in the room. Before your first one you will sign a confidentiality agreement; every facilitator and member of our team signs the same. You agree not to record, screenshot, transcribe or otherwise capture any part of a room or a conversation with another member, and not to repeat what another member has shared, inside The Program or outside it. First names are all anyone uses, and you need not share more. We hold up our end the same way: the rooms are not recorded by us, and what you share is not disclosed beyond the team supporting you, except where the law requires it or where someone’s safety demands it.

How we treat one another. The rooms work because people in them feel safe. You agree to treat other members and facilitators with respect, to let people speak, and to keep the rooms free of harassment, discrimination and intimidation. You agree not to use The Program to sell anything, to solicit other members, or to offer betting tips, systems or any encouragement to gamble. A slip is not a breach of these terms: members who relapse are still members, and the rooms are where to bring it. If someone makes the rooms unsafe for others, we may remove them, after a conversation wherever possible, and fees already paid are not refunded in that case.

Scheduling. Rooms meet on fixed evenings at fixed times, which you will know before you commit. We may change a facilitator, a time or a format when we need to, and will give you as much notice as we can.

The app may start with a free trial and continues as a subscription that renews automatically until you cancel. Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play are billed and managed by Apple or Google under their terms, including cancellation and refunds; cancel from your device’s subscription settings, and access continues to the end of the period you have paid for. Subscriptions bought on our website are billed by Stripe and can be cancelled from your account. We do not see your card details either way.

What you write in the app, including journals, gratitude lists, insights and logged sessions, is encrypted on your device. We cannot read it, and we take no responsibility for its contents; the app is a private space for your own reflections.

If you got the app from the App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, and neither of them has any responsibility for the app or any obligation to support it.

What you write yourself, in the app, in check-ins, reflections or messages on the platform, or in an application, remains yours. You give us permission to store it and to show it to you and, on the platform, to the staff supporting you, which is all we do with it. We will never publish it, use it in marketing, or make it visible to other members, and we do not claim any licence to it beyond what running the service requires.

The practices, recordings, meditations, writing, designs, software and everything else we give you are ours or licensed to us, and are for your personal use in your own recovery. Please do not copy, publish, sell, share or build on them, reverse-engineer the app or the platform, or use automated tools to copy or probe them. Our name and logo are ours. You are welcome to link to our sites, as long as the link does not suggest we endorse anything of yours.

If you send us suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything, and you keep no rights in how we use them.

You agree to use our services only for lawful purposes, not to harm them or anyone using them, and not to attempt to access anything we have not made available to you.

You can close your app account at any time from the app or by writing to support@alchemistone.io, and we delete it when you ask. You can leave The Program at any time; the refund rules above say what that means for the fee. You can cancel an alumni membership or an app subscription as described above.

We may suspend or close an account if you break these terms, make the rooms unsafe for others, or use the service unlawfully, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it. We may also change or discontinue a feature, the app or The Program; if we discontinue something you have paid for, we refund the part you have not received.

The confidentiality promises in these terms, the limits on our liability, and the parts about our material survive the end of your account or membership.

We provide the app, The Program and the platform with care, but as they are, and we cannot promise they will always be available or free of errors. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for losses from gambling, for the actions of other members or users, or for third-party sites and services we link to, and our total liability to you for anything arising from this agreement is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or, if you paid nothing, your remedy is to stop using the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits a liability that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit, and nothing here takes away a protection that the consumer laws where you live give you.

You agree to cover us for claims by others that arise from your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of the service.

These terms are governed by the laws of Saskatchewan and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If we have a dispute we cannot resolve by talking, it will be heard by the courts of Saskatchewan, without prejudice to any right the consumer laws where you live give you to bring a claim at home.

We may change The Program, the app and these terms as we learn. If a change matters, we will tell members and app users by email before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the change; if you do not, you can close your account as described above.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about the service. You cannot transfer this agreement to anyone else; we may transfer it to a successor to our business. We may send notices to you by email, and you agree that email satisfies any requirement for a notice in writing.
