About AlchemistOne

AlchemistOne builds technology that helps people make lasting changes in their lives. We are moving from a self-serve mobile app to a structured, facilitator-led 90-day virtual program for behavioural addiction, with an initial and exclusive focus on problem gambling. It is not therapy and it is not clinical. It is deeply rooted in lived experience: the live rooms and the 90-day program are run by people who have been through addiction and recovery. The practices are mindfulness, self-inquiry and non-duality, taught in a non-religious way, and members are encouraged to relate to their direct experience differently.

The Program runs on a web platform. Our iOS and Android apps, launched in 2025 with thousands of users, were built for the company we used to be. Your job is to make them part of the company we are now.

The opportunity

This is not a maintenance role, and it is not a greenfield one either.

You’ll take two shipped apps with real users and turn them into the mobile companion to The Program. The web platform sets the direction; the app has to feel like the same thing in your pocket. Some of the existing app survives (the audio library, the journal, the account), some of it goes, and a lot of it gets rebuilt around the ninety day program and its content drip.

You’ll work directly with the CEO, who owns product, and alongside the developer of the web platform and the audio producer. You’ll use AI coding tools, Claude Code among them, every day. We don’t care how much of the code you type; we care a great deal about whether you understand what shipped.

What you’ll do

  • Own the iOS and Android apps end to end: architecture, build, release, store listings, crash reports, reviews.
  • Plan and execute the transition from the current app to the Program-aligned app, including what happens to existing users, their data and their accounts, within the 30-day transition commitment in our Terms.
  • Rebuild the app’s structure around a member’s ninety days: the daily audio drip, the room schedule, the journal, the side quests, and progress that means something to someone in recovery.
  • Integrate with the web platform’s APIs and auth so a member is one person across web and mobile.
  • Keep the app clean: no advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers, health data handled under our Privacy Policy, and account deletion that actually deletes.
  • Use AI tools to move fast on the routine and the boilerplate, review everything they produce, and keep the codebase something a second developer could pick up.
  • Ship small and often, with the CEO as your product partner and with members as the people you’re building for.

Requirements

Required

  • 4+ years building and shipping mobile apps, with at least one app you’ve taken through App Store and Google Play review and supported in production.
  • Strong in Swift and Kotlin, or deep in one platform and credible on the other.
  • Working knowledge of modern web platforms (React or Next.js, REST or GraphQL APIs, auth) so you can read the web codebase and build against it.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding tools in real work, and clear opinions about where they help and where they don’t.
  • Comfortable owning a codebase alone, with a product owner rather than a tech lead.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.

Advantageous

  • You’ve repurposed or migrated a live app with real users, and know what that does to retention, reviews and support.
  • Experience with audio playback, offline content and background sessions on mobile.
  • Experience with health, mental health, recovery or other sensitive-data products, and the privacy obligations that come with them (PIPEDA, Québec Law 25, app-store health policies).
  • Accessibility work you can point to.
  • Any personal connection to the subject.

Qualities

  • You’d rather ship something small and right than something big and vague.
  • You read the web platform before you redesign the app.
  • You treat a member’s data like it’s about a real person having a hard time, because it is.
  • Direct, unpretentious, fine with a founder who has opinions about products.
  • You can say “the AI got this wrong” and show why.

Location and time

Regina or Saskatoon preferred; remote within Canada considered for the right person.

This is a one-year term to deliver the work, not a seat to fill for forty hours a week. You set your own hours within the week; we ask for enough overlap with the Central time working day to plan and ship together, and for the work to land. It suits someone who wants the footing of payroll without a full-time schedule, with room left for other things.

Compensation

One-year term position on payroll, with potential to extend. $65,000–$85,000 CAD for the year, depending on experience, with vacation and benefits as required under the employment standards of the province you live and work in. We supply or reimburse the equipment you need under our bring-your-own-device policy.

Apply

A short form: who you are, your résumé, and where we can see your work. We read every application.
