About AlchemistOne
AlchemistOne is building technology that helps people create lasting change in their lives.
We are entering the next stage of the company’s evolution: transitioning from a self-serve mobile app into a structured, facilitator-led 90-day virtual program built specifically for behavioural addiction, with an initial and exclusive focus on problem gambling.
We are not therapy, and what we’re offering is not clinical in nature. What we are is deeply rooted in lived experience. It’s live rooms and a structured 90-day program run by people who have been through addiction and recovery. We work in mindfulness, self-inquiry and non-duality in a non-religious way. We encourage our members to explore their relationship to direct experience in a different way.
The opportunity
This is not a counselling role.
You’ll run a room: a small live video group of people in their first ninety days away from gambling. You hold the space, lead the practice and the inquiry, and keep the room honest and safe. You’re not there to fix anyone or diagnose anyone. You’re there because you’ve been where they are, you know what the next ninety days will ask of them, and you can sit with people in it without flinching.
Facilitators work with us as independent contractors. You’ll start with one room a week and can take on more as cohorts grow and as you and we both want to.
What you’ll do
- Run the room. Lead a 90-minute Zoom session with a group of 12 members, following that week’s curriculum. Open it, hold it, close it. Three rooms a week per cohort, shared among facilitators.
- Prepare and wind down. Thirty minutes before each session to review the week’s material and the room’s notes; thirty minutes after to record attendance, note anything that needs follow-up, and put the session down.
- Keep people safe. Know the escalation protocol and use it. When something in the room is beyond the room, hand it to the right place quickly and tell us.
- Hold the agreements. Confidentiality, respect, showing up. You set the tone and you keep it.
- Feed the curriculum. Join the weekly facilitator check-in. Tell us what’s working in the rooms and what isn’t; the program gets better from what facilitators see.
- Keep your own practice. You can’t lead people somewhere you don’t go yourself.
What we’re looking for
Required
- You stopped gambling and stayed stopped, for at least two years, and you’re honest about what that took.
- Experience holding space for a group: a recovery group, a meditation circle, a classroom, a team, anywhere people needed someone steady at the front.
- Comfort on video with a group of strangers who are having a hard week.
- Reliable availability for a fixed weekly session in the evening, Eastern time.
- Fluent English, a quiet space, and a connection that doesn’t drop.
- 18 or older.
You’ll stand out if you have
- A practice of your own in mindfulness, meditation or self-inquiry, and the ability to talk about it plainly, without jargon.
- Experience in peer support, 12-step or similar recovery settings, on either side of the room.
- Training in trauma-informed practice, mental health first aid, or non-violent communication.
- Familiarity with non-dual teaching.
- Facilitation or teaching experience of any kind.
- A second language.
Who you are
- Steady. The room borrows your nervous system for ninety minutes.
- Honest about your own story without needing to tell it every week.
- Curious about people rather than certain about them.
- Able to let silence sit.
- Clear about the line between facilitation and counselling, and willing to stay on your side of it.
What this role is not
It’s not clinical, and we don’t ask you to act as a clinician. It’s not a volunteer role; you’re paid for every session. And it’s not a place to work through your own recovery in front of members. The room is theirs.
Location and hours
Remote, from anywhere in the world, provided you can commit to a fixed weekly session in the evening, Eastern time (roughly 6 to 10 pm ET). All sessions are on Zoom.
Compensation
Independent contractor. $150 CAD per session, covering the 90-minute room plus 30 minutes of preparation and 30 minutes of wind-down: 2.5 hours per week to begin. Paid monthly on invoice. Training and a co-facilitated first cohort are paid at the same rate. A background check is required where available in your country, at our cost.
