About AlchemistOne
AlchemistOne builds technology that helps people make lasting changes in their lives. We are moving from a self-serve mobile app to a structured, facilitator-led 90-day virtual program for behavioural addiction, with an initial and exclusive focus on problem gambling. It is not therapy and it is not clinical. It is deeply rooted in lived experience: the live rooms and the 90-day program are run by people who have been through addiction and recovery. The practices are mindfulness, self-inquiry and non-duality, taught in a non-religious way, and members are encouraged to relate to their direct experience differently.
Much of the program is audio: daily pieces members listen to between sessions, guided practices used in the live rooms, and the content already in the app.
The opportunity
Over six months, you will record, edit and deliver the entire audio library for The Program, and create a recording setup and a standard that allows us to continue making high quality audio after your term ends. There is an opportunity for this to extend into a longer-term contract.
The recordings are spoken word: the founder and a few other voices, reading and speaking the program’s daily and weekly content. The craft is in turning sixty hours of raw tape into twenty hours of something a person will put in their ears at 11pm when they are trying not to place a bet. Quiet, consistent, unhurried, and at an elite quality that encourages deeper listening.
You will work part-time, around 20 hours a week, with recording days scheduled around both yours and the founder’s availability.
What you’ll do
- Spec and build a small spoken-word recording space in our Regina office within a modest budget, or recommend a studio-rental plan if that is the better call.
- Run recording sessions with the founder and other voices: scheduling, mic technique, coaching for consistency, takes and pickups.
- Edit for pace and clarity without losing the person. Master everything to one loudness standard.
- Build intros, outros, transitions and any music beds, sourced or licensed. We are not asking you to compose.
- Re-master the app’s existing meditations and sessions so the whole catalogue sounds like one thing.
- Work with the app developer on file formats, naming, loudness targets and metadata so audio drops into the product without rework.
- Write a short audio style guide and a session checklist so anyone who records after you sounds like they belong in the same program.
Requirements
Required
- Demonstrated experience producing spoken-word audio: podcasts, audiobooks, guided meditations, radio or documentary.
- Fluency in a professional DAW (Reaper, Pro Tools, Logic, Adobe Audition or equivalent) and clean dialogue editing.
- Mastering for loudness-normalized delivery.
- The ability to make a room sound good with modest equipment.
- Based in Regina, or in Saskatchewan with regular recording days in Regina.
- Organized enough to track two hundred files without losing one.
Advantageous
- A portfolio of meditation, wellness or recovery audio.
- Experience coaching non-professional voices on mic.
- Sound design or music editing skills.
- Experience delivering audio into an app or streaming product.
Qualities
- A deep commitment to excellence, in the audio and in how the work is run.
